AJAXX / SCOPE

Remodeling is mostly the order things happen in.

Alongside the flooring scope, AJAXX evaluates the visible finish together with what supports it: demolition, preparation, sequencing, adjacent trades and final inspection.

Most of what goes wrong in a remodel is not a bad material or a bad crew. It is work done in the wrong order. Paint before the floor means touch-ups. Floor before the trim means a cut that never quite closes. Cabinets before the substrate is level means shimming a run that should have sat flat.

Because our starting point is the floor, we see the sequence from the surface everything else lands on, which is usually where the order has to be decided.

Open

Demolition reveals what the drawing could not: substrate condition, previous repairs and what is actually behind the finish.

Correct

The base is brought to a condition that can receive a finish, before any finish is committed to.

Sequence

Trades are ordered so that no finished surface has to be protected from work that should have come first.

Close

Each area is finished and cleared before the next one opens, so the house is never disrupted in several places at once.

Selective upgrade or broader transformation

A remodel does not have to be total to be worth doing well. Replacing the flooring across a house and leaving everything else in place is a complete scope, with its own preparation, transitions and closeout.

What changes with a broader transformation is not the standard, it is the number of interfaces. More trades meet each other, more surfaces have to line up, and more decisions depend on a decision made earlier.

Either way the discipline is the same: know what is underneath, fix it before you cover it, and close each area before opening the next.

Most of our clients live in the house while we work

That single fact shapes the whole plan. A bedroom that is out of service has to be back in service. A kitchen that is opened has to stay usable, or the family has to know for how long it will not be.

We stage residential work room by room for this reason. It is slower on paper than opening everything at once, and it is the only version that a household can actually live through.

The alternative, several rooms open and none finished, is how a four-week job becomes a season.
